Hi! I’m Catherine.
I’m glad you’re here. I’m an international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) and licensed pediatric registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). It’s a mouthful.
I grew up in Massachusetts, and resettled here after college to pursue a master’s degree in nutrition from Boston University. I spent the next several years working as Boston Medical Center’s ketogenic dietitian before taking the leap to their Baby Steps program, where I worked with NICU graduates and their families on the full spectrum of infant feeding. I got my certification as a lactation counselor to provide more comprehensive support, and quickly fell in love with the breastfeeding dyad.
It wasn’t until having my own daughter that I experienced firsthand how difficult and isolating breast feeding challenges can feel. Making it through weeks of nursing struggles wouldn’t have been possible without the support from my lactation mentor and a good friend’s donated milk. Now an IBCLC myself, I offer a variety of services in person and virtually that cover a myriad of feeding challenges. My goal as a lactation consultant is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care through partnership; working alongside you and your family to set personalized, measurable goals with room to pivot and adapt. Some things we may address in a consult include:
Latch pain
Low milk supply
Oversupply/overactive letdown
Nipple shield use
Plugged ducts/mastitis/blebs
Pumping/back to work
Bottle refusal
Introduction of solids
Picky eating
Weaning
Re-lactation
When I’m not seeing families here or at Emerson Hospital, you can find me on nature adventures with my daughter and husband, painting, running, gardening, or fumbling through an endless supply of house projects.
