Home Visits

Breastfeeding is natural, but it isn’t always easy.

Every family is unique and deserves a personalized approach. I’m committed to uncovering the root of the problem, and to developing a feeding plan that feels accessible, supportive, and respectful of your individual goals.

I offer home visits in Acton, MA and surrounding areas in Middlesex County, including Concord, Carlisle, Lexington, Bedford, Westford, Harvard, Wayland, Maynard, Littleton, & Stow. Visits outside those areas are possible, but may be subject to an additional travel fee.

  • A prenatal consult is like a private breast feeding class, and can help you feel confident feeding once baby arrives. These consults can be especially helpful if you: have a history of breast/chest surgery, have had difficulties with breast/chestfeeding a previous baby, have concerns about anatomical issues, know there may be other challenges that impact feeding, feel anxious about getting feeding off to the best start, are interested in inducing lactation as a non-gestational parent. During this visit we will:

    • Discuss your questions, concerns, fears

    • Review pertinent medical or breastfeeding history

    • Examine your breasts/chest

    • Co-develop a feeding plan that aligns with your individual goals

    • Provide helpful links, resources, and referrals

  • A full lactation consultation in the comfort of your own home. A typical visit lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and includes:

    • A thorough history of you and your baby

    • Observation of a nursing and/or pumping session

    • Pre and post feeding weight using a special scale to measure milk transfer

    • Assistance with latch and positioning

    • An individualized feeding plan

    • Resources and referrals, as needed

    • E-mail/portal follow-up

  • For current clients only, to continue to evaluate, revise, or get more support with the care plan developed in your initial visit. Please book a Postpartum Visit if you have not yet been seen by me. Includes secure messaging after the visit to discuss related questions or concerns.

  • Feeling anxious about navigating the return to work? Unsure when and how to start pumping? Didn’t know that nipples come in different shapes and sizes? A pumping/back to work visit includes:

    • Pump set-up and demo

    • A fully customized pumping plan

    • Flange fitting

  • If you’re experiencing any of the following while pumping, you may need to be sized for flange fit:

    • Pain

    • Nipple damage or blanching

    • Low output

    • Sense of fullness after pumping

A flange fit involves measuring your nipple diameter and testing different hard shell and silicone inserts to achieve optimal comfort and milk yield.

A note: this visit should only be scheduled after giving birth. If you are also looking for a back to work or other pumping plan, please book a Back To Work Visit instead.

  • Have you tried what feels like 20 different bottles with no success? This visit includes an oral assessment, functional exercises, and an individualized care plan to help your little learn the skills to successfully and consistently take a bottle.
